This is AWOL’s first official post, which has been long overdue! Things have been moving fast around here, with new stores and restaurants opening up each week. With the perfect weather, things have certainly livened up. If you haven’t been to the area, here’s a mini tour of a few of our favorites…
Across the way is Kelly’s Roast Beef. I’m not a roast beef fan, but others have said it’s good. I personally like the fried seafood plates…beats driving to the Cape!
Don’t like roast beef or seafood or anything from there? Go a few stores down to Ivy. It looks like a hole in the wall and it really is. This is where you can find sushi for cheap and it’s pretty good! There are plenty of other options right down the street…Color, Korean Garden, and Hammaru are great Korean places. Union and Soul Fire have great comfort foods. Another good place to go is PC Café. There you can use free wi-fi. They have great boba and jelly drinks and also serves yogurt. I haven’t tried the yogurt there, but the drinks are pretty good. Other great places to visit are Garlic N Lemon and In-House Cafe

Like to shop? There’s a huge Urban Outfitters that opened down the street.
You can find sneakers not only at AWOL, but now at Orchard Street Shop a little further down from us. They carry Nike SBs and even better…they have they own skating ramp.
Across Brighton Ave., you will also find ATB. They do consignment on sneakers and have a huge selection of hats. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something exclusive.
This area is also great for night life. Next door to us is Wonderbar. There are different events going on each nights…from Jazz, college nights, to private functions. Drinks aren’t too expensive, so that’s a plus!
Other cool places to hang out in the area are The Uncommon Ground, Whitehorse Tavern, and The Sports Tavern. These places definitely gets packed when Boston teams play. Hidden underneath Tedeschi’s is a hookah bar called Habibi’s Lounge…an interesting place to check out.
Aside from all the shops, Blanchard is conveniently located if you need to buy alcohol. The prices there are very reasonable. If you need you computer fixed or need an update, drop by Compustar for quick service.
